Oh Gosh! I'm stoked!

I am declaring my undying love for this book!
I am floating on cloud nine as of now because my pretty little mind cannot wholly process the sweetness and perfection of LIAM JAMES.
He’s over the top perfect! I can’t reach him. Haha!
He deserves all the fangirling in the world.

Anyway, of course I don’t like my entire review to be just about gushing over Liam. I love it not just because of him. I love it because I’m a sucker for this kind of story.

Amber and her brother, Jake were physically and mentally abused by their father ever since they were children. But the abuse took its toll when father attempted to rape Amber. She’s became an emotional wreck despite the fact that their father was kicked out of the house. Now, years later, that horrible event still haunts her dreams. Through it all, she’s found strength and protection from her brother and his best friend, Liam.

OMG, let's talk about Liam!

 

 He has been sneaking inside her room since she was eight years old. Whenever he sees her crying, he’d go to her, comfort her, just to make her feel better. Oh my my my! I’d go melting into a pile of goo because of how sweet he is. He may be mistaken as a man-whore who sleeps with anyone that moves. But no! He’s always been in love with Amber. Imagine a guy who’s been in love with a girl for 12 years but can’t do anything about it because of an overprotective brother.

I hated him at first because of his a-hole streak. But then as the story progresses you’ll have no choice but to love him. I love the other characters as well. They were able to thwart every tough situation they face and that’s what I love!

The ending is everything I am hoping for. It’s perfect and amazing. Especially, the last chapter. It was soooo beautiful and definitely a HEA.

Liam is incredible. I don’t think there’s a real guy as perfect as he is.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

JULIE KAGAWA + VAMPIRES + DYSTOPIA = OMG PERFECT!!!
 

First, let me tell you that I’m a huge Julie Kagawa fan so please bear with this a little bit biased review. lol ;)

In this new novel, Kagawa ventures into two worlds fans of YA novels are raving about. Imagine a dystopian world filled with bloodsucking vampires. What do you get? The Immortal Rules! Well, freakin’tastic!

Allison Sekemoto is a human. She hates and despises vampires for their sheer cruelty. They treat humans as nothing but bloodbags from whom they could feed on whenever they want. But what if something terrible happens and she’s left with no choice but to be one of them? To be like those ruthless monsters that everyone fears?
 

“Sometime in your life, Alison Sekemoto, you will kill a human being. Accidentally or as a conscious, deliberate act. It is unavoidable. The question is not if it will happen, but when.”

The first time I read about the synopsis, I thought how would the author make this kind of story work? I mean I was having a post-Iron fey hangover so I didn’t want to read anything outside of the fey world. But actually, she pulled it off pretty well.

Yep, it was ominous and dark. But hey, Vampires and Dystopian, what are you expecting?? Despite that, I loved the engaging story. It’s new, refreshing and cool. The story is some kind of an “I am Legend” progeny with references to the bible. The concept is new and unique.

Moreover, I am truly fascinated by the characters, especially, Allison Sekemoto. I’ve never admired any vampire girl before her. She’s an incredible kick-ass heroine and I love that about her. She’s a vampire but her heart is definitely human through and through. And of course, Ezekiel. Zeke is a real gentleman. He sees the good in everyone. I just hope they’d be together in the end. When I reached the end, I am torn and my heart couldn’t accept their fate. Nevertheless, I liked it. I liked the concept, the plot, the characters,  and that there were still many unanswered questions. I’ve been anticipating this book for so long and I am just glad that it lived up to my expectations. Anyway, I'm lovin' that beautiful cover! The blood tear is really cool and suits the story so well.

 I recommend it to all Julie Kagawa fans like me.

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Full five stars with hearts and kisses to Sophie Kinsella for coming up with a new fantastic novel! This and "Can You Keep A Secret?" are probably my favorite Kinsella novels. Just like any other novel from the author, it has a simple but hilariously realistic plot, and a quirky lovable heroine, Poppy. I mean who gets into so much trouble just by losing an engagement ring? Well I'm not just talking about some it's-no-big-deal-we-can-replace-it-ring, it's the bloody family heirloom of her future husband! So how will she explain it to her fiancé? Or better yet to her in-laws who clearly do not approve of the marriage. But what you're all probably wondering is how Sam fits into the picture... Hmm don't want to spoil anything, it's for you to find out and for me to....*insert widest grin*...

 Anyway I recommend this to all Sophie Kinsella fans out there. I laughed, cried( well almost), swooned and I bet you'd also feel the same way. You'll love it especially the ending, it's sweet and priceless! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel!! Puh lease!!.. I want more of Sam and Poppy!

The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Knight is my DREAM-COME-TRUE and my WISH-GRANTED! Boy! I was definitely surprised and delighted when I realized that what I'm reading is Ash's POV!!

Reading the last book was bittersweet. Their problems finally resolved and the Iron Realm is in the hands of the new Iron Queen, Meghan Chase. But one thing that left me in a state of utter disbelief is the tragic truth that there will never be a future for Meghan and Ash. So please bear with me and my slightly discombobulated thoughts because I just finished the book a minute ago and here I am making a review yet my mind is still trapped in Nevernever.




 I love Happily Ever Afters, especially one that is Ash-Tallyn related. I love him too much. Okay, I am not going to gush like a fangirl anymore because I tend to do that when it is about him. Let's talk about the plot. We all know that the Nevernever is in harmony after the epic battle but not quite right?



Being the queen of the Iron Kingdom means Meghan cannot be with Ash because just like any faery he cannot endure iron, for them it means death. So Ash embarks in an impossible quest to become mortal. He faces different obstacles and tests just to have the chance to be with her. Even if being human brings him weakness, conscience, and mortality. Then Ariella shockingly appears in front of them. Yes, I was shocked, didn't see that coming. My jaw dropped while reading that part. For I knew Ariella's unexpected return is a complication to their love story, Ash might waver and doubt his feelings for Meghan. But I admire him still, in the end he was able to make the right choice and prove that the one he truly love is Meghan. He's a true knight and shining armor. I felt it, his love, his effort, everything. I also salute the other characters. Puck for being the good friend. Despite his own loss, he learns to let go the person he loves for her happiness. Grimalkin for somehow being their genie in the bottle, always there to guide and help them in times of need. 




 I didn't expect so much from this. The other books in the series are probably better when it comes to the plot. The story was supposed to be a trilogy so I'm just thankful for this. The loose ends are tied and I was able to really know Ash, his thoughts, and his past, and his true feelings for Meghan. Reading the Iron Fey books for three consecutive days was an amazing experience. I loved it! And it'll surely be one of the series that I won't forget. Thank you Julie Kagawa for bringing such wonderful creations to the literary world!

First of all, I want to say that Julie Kagawa is my new favorite author! I love the way she writes, the 
way she always leaves me breathless, amazed, and satisfied. The third book in the Iron Fey Series is a great reading experience! If you think second book is awesome, you better read this because you might just change your mind!


Meghan and the fey world finally face the most dreaded war against the Iron Fey. To withstand them, they must join forces and do the most crucial sacrifices. I have to admire Meghan for her bravery as well as Ash for making me swoony everytime he utters cheesy lines and for being an amazing knight. It makes me want to have a knight of my own. As for Puck, I feel sorry for him because somehow I know that behind that teasing and happy-go-lucky facade is a heart breaking for the love he cannot have. The ending left me contented and emotional. I don't know why but it brought tears to my eyes, as in A-Walk-to-Remember-kind-of tears. 


It's really sad that Meghan cannot do anything to alter her fate, she has no choice but to accept it. Now I'm dying to read the fourth book because I know there'll be more surprises,especially after Ash says he will not give up Meghan, that he'll find a way for them to be together. Gosh! Ash Tallyn I wish you were real!!! No forget that, I wish I was Meghan!! She's lucky lucky girl!!


Well. I'm not a fangirl. But reading this.. I think I have to give an exception ^_^

 I ABSOLUTELY recommend this!!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Just when I thought I wouldn't like this any better than the previous book, I was so 
wrong. The much awaited fifth installment of is packed with awesome action and surprises. And let us not forget the romance, and well, the lost souls....




After the disappearance of Jace and Sebastian, The shadowhunters, Clary, Alec, Magnus, Isabelle, and Simon try to search for the whereabouts of the two. But things change when they discoaver that Sebastian did not just kidnap Jace. They are now bound to each other. And to destroy one of them means destroying the other. Together they must find a powerful weapon to sever the tie between the two before it's too late.






Actually, I was really bothered throughout the most part of this novel. Part of this is because of their somehow futile search for the weapon, and the other part is for Jace. He is not himself that is sure. But the way he is described in the story is like he's hopeless. That who he turned into is impossible to change. I felt it. I felt what Clary must have felt during those times. Because I know it's hard to be with someone you love who isn't what he used to be. You tell yourself that everything is fine but deep down you know it's not the same anymore. That's probably the reason why I thought the story would just be another not-good-enough story. Because I didn't like it that Jace has to always be the one possessed or the one who's not himself. He seems vulnerable that way. And fake by the way. But that disappointment was only short-lived because of how everything turned out.




I guess there were so many scenes that I like. The omniscient point of view helped a great deal in building up the hype. I am entertained by their conversations sometimes. I liked Simon. His personality makes the situation much lighter, like his SMURFS and Star Wars thingy. The other characters are also interesting, like Maia and Jordan, and Alec and Magnus although I'm not really a big fan of their relationship. And the ending, boy it was exactly what I've hoped for! It's incredible and made me wish to read the next book right away!


There's no surprise that Cassandra Clare again made a great shadowhunter novel. She has proven herself so many times. So now I'm waiting more from her.

The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

FANTASTIC!! I was fascinated by the fey world the first time read about it, and now I'm

 loving it!

The second book of the Iron fey series is just as magical and engaging as the first book, and maybe even better!! After Meghan rescued Ethan and killed Machina, her journey has gotten more complicated. Unfortunately, the Iron fey has not ceased to exist but has only gained a new leader to rid the Nevernever of faeries. In the midst of this, the Scepter of the Seasons has been stolen causing a war between the Winter and the Summer Court. In order to end this fatal war, they must return the scepter to its rightful place. But doing so could mean imminent danger, death, and sacrifices.

This fantasy novel is an interesting read. I enjoyed every bit of it. I like the characters' personality, strength, and boldness. The romance is totally unbelievably amazing and riveting! The first part of the story broke my heart because of how impossible it is for Ash and Meghan to love each other. But I'm glad the ending stitched it back in place. Although, fate may have not favored them I admire their choices. I loved Ash for having the courage to admit his love for Meghan to the Queen, and I loved him even more when he'd rather be banished to the mortal world than forget her.

ASH, You're the Man!! 

I assure you the ending is a satisfiable one. There are so many questions in my mind after reading this. I want to know what will happen next right away so I'm definitely going to read the next book after making this review! I can't get enough of the fey world and the romance!!

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

I've been looking for a great romance novel to delve myself into. So what I did was refer to the goodreads listopia of "Best Romance Novels of all Time." This book made it to the top spot at that time. Funny because I'm one of those hopeless romantic, and I have never heard of this one. So I read. It was great. Though somehow it does not deviate from the typical bad boy meets good girl love story I often encounter, surprisingly, I liked it.

What happens when bad boy meets good girl? Travis Maddox has a bad reputation. He's never befriended any girl, for him they're just I-won't-remember-your-name-tomorrow-one-night stands. But when he strikes up a strange friendship with Abby things got way out of hand. He falls in love for the one girl who's afraid to love him. This love story is one of those that you'd want to read about but don't want to experience. I mean all the arguments, problems and the love-hate thing going on between them is earth-shattering. One minute they're okay but the next, WORLD WAR!

Everyone couldn't get enough of this book.Travis. He may be mistaken as a gangster he could be so sweet! He does and says so many things that melts your heart. 

“I know we’re fucked up, all right? I’m impulsive, and hot-tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you…but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands…all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.”  -Travis..

Abby is his exception, and he is hers. I love reading this book despite the emotional ride it gave me.Travis and Abby are a trainwreck. Their love story is a beautiful disaster. But I wouldn't love them any other way.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I was so excited to read this one because so many people already told me it's an awesome book. So I'm glad it didn't disappoint me.


 Shatter me, the debut novel of Tahereh Mafi, introduces a dystopian society struggling to survive the brink of destruction until the Reestablishment takes over. However, the poeple found themselves even more doomed because of the wicked treatment of tyrannical leaders. In the midst of this turmoil, Juliette is imprisoned. She's locked up for 3 years without any knowledge or communication from the outside world because she's considered lethal, a threat, an outcaste. For her touch could kill and suck the life out of anyone. This predicament has always been her life. A life devoid of love, acceptance,and happiness. But everything changes when she discovers what she's truly capable of, that it's her choice whether to create life or destruction.


 Undeniably, Tahereh Mafi is the new author to discover. The plot is well-constructed, and the strike through concept is a genius, it contributed a great deal in exploring the depths of Juliette's mind. The romance between David and Juliette feels genuine. And the other characters are great. I don't know why but I like James and kenji, I was entertained with every conversation they have.


Also, I was amazed at how a simple act or event can be made beautiful and believable just by the author's perfectly strunged words. The writing is so poetic that you'll feel the words moving out of the pages into your heart.  It has enough action, romance, and surprises. Although the ending lacks the intense action scenes some are waiting for, it's worth it because it's so cool that it will make you more excited for what's coming in the second book. It will be one of the books I’ll recommend to my friends as well as to those who are a fan of dystopia and superheroes.

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

After reading this book. . . . . 

 My heart is torn, trying to put them back together but it can't be whole again.. not until Will is happy, not until Tessa is freed from the crucial decision she has to make in the end....

I never thought Cassandra Clare is capable of doing something so emotional in a Shadowhunting world. 

Clockwork prince is the second book to the Infernal Devices trilogy I came to love. If you liked the first one, there'll be no frustration in the second book. There are enough surprises, revelations, and betrayals. The ever beautiful Victorian London is perfectly described, and the story brilliantly paced and told. I found their conversation quite wonderful it was like going back in time but still enjoying the company of some interesting people from the past.

You'll see the depths of Will's mysterious personality. Why he has to be so despicable and why he has to push Tessa away. I sincerely felt bad for him. And just thinking of how everything turned out makes me so disappointed. If only he had known it earlier, things would have turned out different for him, for his family, and for Tessa. But it's too late now.

But not Jem, he's one lucky shadowhunter I wanted to make him feel how his parabatai's feeling. I'm not exactly mad at him. I just realized, after reading this, how badly I wanted Tessa and Will to be together. I can't blame Jem either because he's too good, dying and I like his character. Wow, that makes it even more confusing!  

So I'm just hoping against all hope that Tessa makes the right decision in the end. I'm feeling that it'll still be Will though their future together seems dark. Can't bloody wait for the last installment!

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

The fourth installment of the Mortal Instruments Series is, as expected, an exciting and praise-worthy one, typical of a Cassandra Clare novel.  

With Valentine dead and gone, the story turned into a new chapter.  what's going to happen next. New conflict, new villain, new allies, and probably more to come! 
Though, I STILL feel that City of Glass is better and more epic than this one, I'm glad it ended quite well. 

After the last scene, I thought "Not Again!" The ill-fated lovers, Jace and Clary, suffering another we-cannot-be-together-even-though-we're-madly-in-love problem. Their love story is so depressing.  Yeah. "To love is to destroy," 
I really hope that they'll prove everyone wrong. I admit I was a little bit disappointed in Jace's character development in this installment, because after everything else, he's become weak and vulnerable. But couldn't blame him either because as much as he feels that Clary's the best thing that's ever happened to him, he's also afraid of losing her.

I would probably mention how I liked that Simon has more appearance in this book than the previous ones. Reading his point of view is entertaining and interesting, sometimes I couldn't help but crack at his bland humor. It's hilarious to read about his own two-timing love story. Good to see some normalcy in him despite his being a vampire.

After reading 4 books of the series, I do and honestly feel like it could have ended as a trilogy with City of Glass, as this one's veering off to a totally different plot and conflict. But who wants that right? We want more of Shadowhunters! Can't wait for City of Lost Souls!

I give this 4/5 stars!

Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles

Simone Elkeles did it again! At first I doubted if she could outstand or at least equal the interest I had while reading Perfect Chemistry, but boy! I think I’m lovin’ some gorgeous Spanish-speakin’ gangsters! The books definitely gave them the good reputation.  Alex Fuentes made me realize that unlike from what we often see in movies, they have a heart, are capable of loving and they could be great protagonists! He’s my favorite gangster! But then Carlos came...


 I laughed everytime his sarcasm and bland rudeness show. I don’t know why but I like him more because of that. He’s not just a smart-ass thug but he could be interesting at times. I am also pleased at Kiara’s personality; she’s simple and doesn’t try too hard to be beautiful.  I really felt Carlos’s true feelings because even though he doesn’t admit it, he only has his eyes for Kiara despite the girls swooning over him. I should probably mention how glad I am of Alex’s and Brittany’s appearance in the book. I finally got a glimpse of how their relationship survived for so long because all I got from the previous book was the twenty-three-years-later epilogue that didn’t even include them. Although it’s easy to tell that this novel has not-too-complicated conflicts and lacks the dramatic impact compared to the first book, it’s still worth it because it has so much to offer. Rules of Attraction has lovable characters, an amazing plot, and a fascinating romance just as I wanted it. I can’t seem to forget how good they are together with their serious, monogamous, committed relationship!

Ugh..Why am I so giddy? Oh. right… I remember, Alex and Carlos… ^_^
 So Luis? Definitely excited to know more about you in the third book! 

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Just when i thought I'd never find a novel comparable to Can You keep A Secret, well I was wrong! Lola and the Boy Next Door is even better. The story is amazingly sweet,refreshing, genuine, and perfect! This is everything I could ever ask for a Chick-lit. 


The heroine, Lola, is cute with her extraordinary fashion sense. It's a great relief just knowing that the bad boy is not the one she ended up with. It gets kind of lame when the protagonist is inexplicably drawn to the cool bad boy who doesn't have any direction in life, most young adult novels prefer that. But not this! here is where you'll meet the geeky nice guy who'll sweep you off your feet, did I mention his stunningly gorgeous and smells like soap and mechanical oil! ( still don't know what that smells like but who cares? There's no need to know.) He has the cutest name, Cricket Bell. At first I thought it's weird and makes me imagine an insect, but all that fades away when he gives the name a great reputation.


 The boy next door thing reminds me so much of the music video of  You Belong With Me with them both perched in their windows facing each other, exchanging cute glances. It made me wanna burst into one of those falling in love songs by Taylor Swift. Although I had a lingering regret that i didn't read the novel, Anna and the French Kiss first before this because it gives a bit of reference to it. It's like reading The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks when you haven't even read the Notebook. Anyway, I had a great time reading this. Stephanie Perkins is the new author I'll be looking forward to. Of course! anyone is willing to meet and read about a boy who'd not only love a girl unwaveringly but who'd give her anything, even if it is the moon and the stars. All smiles for this book!

Can You Keep A Secret by Sophie Kinsella

I've read some of Sophie Kinsella's novels, so I can say that this is by far her best novel. I bought this because I've heard it's good, and it turned out great! 

The author has good sense of humor because I laughed throughout the novel. Honestly, I didn't expect it to be that way when I read the synopsis. It is one of those feel-good novels that you usually read when you want to relax and laugh your heart out. The story may be shallow and light but who cares? it made me laugh. 

I give this book full five stars! :)

Unwind by Neal Schusterman

This book is CAPS LOCK AWESOMENESS! 


The first time I read the synopsis, I thought it would cause sheer boredom and end up wasting my time. But a lot of reviewers praised it so i decided to give it chance. I'm glad i did, because it turned out great. Yes it's dystopian just like any other famous novels out there but what made it different is its unique plot and the engaging way it is told. I was already hooked while reading the first few chapters. The shifting point of views makes everything so exciting. 


I also like the characters, how they first met, how they managed to fight and survive their predicament, and how, in the end, they all got what they've been wishing for. The realities of life and the injustice acts and laws that they are facing during their era disturbed me so much. In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts, three runaways fight the system. Who would want to sign a petition that entails their son/daughter's death? Who would be willing to donate their son/daughter's body parts? I guess it's unthinkable in our time. But during dire circumstances, you'd probably think otherwise. 


For this, I commend Neal Schusterman. He was able to tackle a very sensitive issue yet an interesting one. Being a teenager myself, I was horrified by their doomed fates at the same time sympathized with them. I wanted them to resist, to fight, to survive, and to thwart the law that everyone thinks is right. That's why I was satisfied with the ending. In fact, the author nailed it pretty well. I was happy with what happened to Connor, Risa and Lev. I also came to admire the admiral, I didn't like him at first but i realized how he feels as a loving parent of an unwound. 


Unwind by Neal Schusterman is a great novel that has a lot to offer. It's complete with action, romance, drama, humor, revelations and surprises. How I wish it has a sequel. It's no doubt I’ll recommend this to my friends...

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

Reading the first two books, I thought it was okay. Theme was good. Mediocre storyline with few good fight scenes. I used to look at it displayed at bookstores and think of its undeserved popularity like some novels I've become tired of mentioning. Couldn't believe I'd eventually like the series. Because yes now it's true! 

After reading the first novel, it was good, a bit predictable, and depressing in the end. I didn't even want to make a review, not with disappointment in the back of my mind. Well, it's different now, all because of how I engrossed I was reading this. 

Praising this novel not just because of the good news everyone's been waiting for (Finally Jace and Clary are not related!) but also because of the complexity the plot has turned into. The ending was epic, the battles were great and exciting. I like that how everything tied up, wasn't at all disappointed with the well-written revelations. I also came to adore how the characters developed. Jace and Clary, their risks, and decisions. Simon who's always the good friend, mundane, but no more cause he's now a vampire! And Sebastian, who would have thought of a new character who plays a big part on the story. I was truly caught off guard by the revelation of his true identity. And of course, special mention to Jocelyn Fairchild, finally! That's a relief. I thought she'd be a sleeping beauty forever. I'm also glad that Valentine's already taken care of despite the questionable death/disappearance of Sebastian. Now, I'm looking forward to what will happen in the fourth book. The demons or enemies they have to face, the unexpected twists to their story, and the romance people can't get enough of.

In life, committing mitakes is inevitable . Each day unfolds an unexpected turn that's enough to make you yearn for the old days and undo all the damages. Then, realization strikes you that you can never have the upperhand in this. But what if something peculiar happens and fate itself gives you a day to null all your follies? Would you be willing to accept you sinful deeds? For One More Day, a book by the bestselling author Mitch Albom revolves around this story.


 It is about treating your parents the way they should be treated and realizing that no matter how bad you mess up in life, there is this hope at the end of the road, waiting to be recognized. This heart-warming novel provides flashbacks from the protagonists. Charles "Chick" Benetto's life has been falling apart since his childhood. his struggle to cope up with the divorce of his parents together with his frustrations in baseball deeply affects his outlook. He grew up longing to see even the slightest attention from his father who abandoned them. Disregarding his mother's unselfsh and unconditional love, he lavished toomuch time trying to get the love of an absent father. but all of these changed when years later, his mother died. All the guilt and regret came flooding in. This brings him to a point when he attempts to take his own life. After that, the strangest thing happens. He gets the chance to be with his mother for a day which he has so yearned. That miraculous encounter gives him the wisdom to forgive himself. He finally realizes that in spite of his absences, his mother's undisputable love will never cease. The good thing about this book is its capability to touch the reader's hearts despite its simplicity. So you'll end up asking yourself "Did I fail to appreciate the ones i love? I liked how some of the chapters are titled " Times I Did Not Stand Up For My Mother" and "Times My Mother Stood Up For Me", he stressed the events when he treated his mother unjustly and his mother's heartfelt sacrfices for him. It also has some insightful lines that'll surely influence the readers. Just like this one, " I believe my mother saved my life, I also believe that parents, if they love you, will hold you up safely, above swirling water, and sometimes that means you'll never know what they endure, and you may treat them unkindly, in a way you otherwise wouldn't." 


I recommend this book to everyone. It will certainly make you stop and reflect for a while. Just think about the hours you can devote being with you mother- it's a lifetime. We might not get the chance to go back like Chick had. So it's important to show your presence to your loved ones and make them feel special.

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

I can't help but remember The Mortal Instruments series while reading this one,you get used to the way the characters of both series are alike, the concept, her writing style and plot development. However, what made me admire her was the incredible way she still keeps me glued to the story.

As expected, the first book of the Infernal Devices series didn't frustrate or disappoint me. Compared to The Mortal Instruments, it's as exciting, action-packed, romantic, and full of shocking revelations. In fact, it's even better. I can think of a few reasons why...

I liked that the setting used is Victorian London complete with Victorian houses, their clothes, horse-pulled carriages, and let's not forget their British accent! I adore the female lead, Tessa, she is less annoying than Clary. She has cool abilities, and of course, I like anyone who likes books. Will, for me is close to an anachronism, his attitude wouldn't pass for an English gentleman during their time. He's rude that sometimes you'd want to hurl him out of the books. Then he gets so sweet and kind that your heart melts with his, then he goes back to the bad boy image. So I'm kind of confused. He looks drop dead gorgeous but there's a mysterious side of him that he still keeps as a secret. I'm definitely going to watch out for it. Jem is the nice guy who Tessa magically bumps into when she's having a hard time and then gives her advice. Well, I'm sensing a love triangle.

Also, the story is more interesting. There are no spontaneous unimportant-to-the-plot attacks from demons that would make you think "What stroke of luck they have for always seeing one!" Every scene contributes to the overall plot or the revelation in the end. Speaking of the ending, it's great, exciting, and worth reading the entire book. The narrator's omniscient point of view helps a great deal in arousing reader's interest. Will definitely left me hanging by a cliff when he is meeting with Magnus Bane. He's about to tell what the problem is, then that's it, the next thing I know I was staring at a blank page. The novel ended with a question mark.

Could this be the secret Will is so worried about? The reason why he doesn't want any involvement with Tessa? I can't wait to read the sequel and discover it!
